We held playgroup at our home this week. We have several families that have children that are not in school and we have formed a weekly playgroup where our two year olds (mostly) get together and play while the moms get to chat. Then, we eat snack and sing songs all together. Tanner wasn't too sure about this whole thing at first but has now come to love it....well, at least that was until today.
I prepped him beforehand letting him know that all of his friends would be coming to our house and that they would be playing with his toys. He really never has to share...Isaac and Brynn don't play much with his toys and if they do, he just has to yip and they give him whatever he wants.
Unfortunately, his friends don't do the same. He was fine with the first 2 children that arrived. They each had their own toys and stayed in their own areas. Well, as more and more children began arriving, Tanner became more distraught. I started noticing him going from child to child to see what they were playing with and whether he thought it was Ok or not. Pretty soon, he would go and take whatever one of the children were playing with. I corrected him but he still was very concerned about his toys. Finally, he had had enough. He went over to take one of his toys (one that he NEVER plays with, mind you) from a little girl that only speaks French. She was not going to have that so held on for dear life (another child with two older siblings that doesn't have to share either). He was not going to tolerate that so he literally wrestled her to the ground prying the toy out of her grasp. Needless to say, we had to put the toys away and head for the snack table after that.
Next task, teach Tanner how to share!

Oh boy do I remember that stage. The problem is, you dont know its a stage until you are right smack dab in the middle of it. Good luck
